Fishermen will know that constant kneeling can split boots open quickly, as we do it so often to tend to a fish, or watch the lake for signs of fish breaking the surface, so a decent pair of waterproof fishing boots is a must!

I reckon these could be those boots?

Snowbee Geo-LT Fishing Boots

Hardwearing, I found these boots comfortable to wear, and they were easy to take on and off which is always a bonus!

Snowbee Geo-LT Fishing Boots

The outer ‘distressed’ fabric is made from leather and suede, which are both water-resistant.

Inside, the boot looks well ventilated, and heavy padding can be found on the collar and tongue to keep the cold out and the heat in.

These fishing boots feature laces, or speed laces as Snowbee call them. Which took me just a few seconds to tie up securely.

A webbing heel loop makes getting them on and off easier as you now have something to grab onto!

The rubber sole offered plenty of grip, and the tread was deeper than on some boots I’ve seen recently.

To further add protection, the heel is made from rubber and a raised toe moulding offers even further protection in case you bang your toe on a rock or something.

A great pair of fishing boots from a well-known brand, you can’t go wrong with these.

Muck Boots Woody Max Waterproof Boots

This warm boot from the Muck Boot Company (more geared towards shooting wear) has kept fishermen toasty for nearly a decade!

Featuring a 5mm CR Flex-Foam fleece liner, together with a 2mm thermal foam under foot (to be technical!) is a proven combination at cold winter temperatures when you’re stood there waiting for a bite!

Muck Boots Men's Woody Max (New Camo) Rain Boot

I had the luxury of owning a pair of these myself – and they’re still going strong, even after a couple of wearing them the past couple of winters.

I do tend to wear a thick sock, even though they have an inner fleece lining, and as they are very spacious inside, but keep my feet really warm, which is needed due to my poor circulation.

The flat heel offers decent protection, whilst the outer rubber material is quick and easy to wash down.

Fishing Boots for winter

Although expensive, if you have the budget for a quality pair of waterproof fishing boots, I would highly recommend them.

Pros: Great size options, extremely comfortable

Cons: Not sure about the camo pattern

Jack Pyke Tundra Boots

Now then, these are sturdy boots and probably the best fishing boots on our list for ankle support.

However, for all other fishing activities – they won’t let you down.

Plus, there is plenty of protection in these boots, especially in the heel and toe areas, whilst the padded tongue and heel means you are not constantly pulling the material due to constant rubbing on the front of your feet!

FAQs

What is the best brand of waterproof fishing boots?

It depends, because many tackle manufacturers release their own brand boots – which are usually OK, however you may want to try a reputable footwear brand such as Jack Pyke or Meindl.

Fishing boots or wellies?

It depends on what you need them for. If you are looking for something to keep your feet dry while fishing, then a good pair of waterproof boots is essential. However, if you need something specifically designed for fishing, then a pair of fishing wellies might be a better option. Whichever you choose, make sure you get a good fit.

What size fishing boot should I buy?

If you decide that you are going to wear a thick pair of socks, then I would recommend choosing one size up from your normal shoe size. This will ensure that your feet have plenty of room and are comfortable all day.

How do I clean my fishing boots?

If your fishing boots are made from leather, then you can simply wipe them down with a damp cloth. However, if they are made from another material, such as neoprene, then you might need to give them a more thorough clean. In this case, you can use a mild soap and water solution. Simply apply the solution to a cloth and wipe down the boots

Can I wear my fishing boots in the rain?

Of course! In fact, waterproof fishing boots are essential if you want to keep your feet dry while out on the water. Just make sure that you choose a pair that is comfortable and offers good grip.
